Russia-Ukraine talks as peace summit begins in Bürgenstock resort, Switzerland

Swiss President Viola Amherd said that in the future Russia and Ukraine will have to hold direct negotiations to resolve the conflict, and the world must prepare the ground for this. Her words from a press conference before the start of the peace summit.

Amherd stressed that Switzerland aims to “inspire the peace process and take concrete measures in this direction.”

“If we wish to inspire a process towards peace, Russia must also be involved at some point in time that is clear to all,” she said, emphasizing that the international community must prepare the ground for negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv, reports the National.

The summit on resolving the conflict in Ukraine without the participation of Russia will be held from June 15 to 16 at the Swiss resort of Bürgenstock. Delegations from over 160 countries are invited to the meeting.

At the event, a number of points from the peace formula of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will be discussed: nuclear and food security, the exchange of prisoners of war in the “all for all” format, the return of Ukrainian children who were taken to Russia.
