Lavrov: NATO’s new strategy is to privatize Europe’s security

NATO’s aggressive policy interferes with the building of a European security system: the North Atlantic Alliance is trying to monopolize the solution to these issues. This opinion, as reported by RIA, was expressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“The threats that appear to Eurasian security come from different directions, but in the overwhelming majority of cases the source of these threats is NATO’s aggressive line,” Lavrov said following a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the countries that are members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

As the head of Russian diplomacy noted, the North Atlantic Alliance seeks to “privatize and subjugate all issues related to ensuring stability in our vast space.”

“NATO will in every possible way interfere with such fair processes (formation of a security system in Eurasia – TRUD.RU). But this is absolutely no alternative,” he emphasized.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during his speech at a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the time had come to discuss guarantees of collective security in Eurasia. The head of state emphasized that Russia is interested in seriously developing dialogue at the UN on creating a system of indivisible security.

In addition, according to Putin, it is necessary to curtail the presence of military forces there from states that do not belong to Eurasia.
