A Russian citizen was detained in Montenegro at the request of the United States

Montenegro detained a Russian citizen at the request of the United States; the reasons for the incident were not reported; the Russian consulate did not receive notifications. This was stated by the vice-president of the International Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, Ivan Melnikov, in an address to the Commissioner for Human Rights in Montenegro, Siniša Bjeković, which is available to the TASS.

“We learned from the media about the arrest of a Russian citizen on the territory of Montenegro at the request of the American authorities,” Melnikov said.

Melnikov added that at the moment there is no additional information regarding the incident.

According to him, according to generally accepted standards, when a citizen is detained, a notice of his arrest or detention is sent to the consulate within three days from the moment of detention. Melnikov said that the Russian side had not received any relevant notifications.
