The United States and the European Union decided to get rid of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, among other reasons, due to the low level of support among the population. This opinion was expressed by the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin in his Telegram channel.
According to him, the investments of Washington and Brussels in Zelenskyy did not pay off.
According to Sputnik, the poll authors, of the dystopian-named MOBILISE Project, speculated that the decrease in popularity could stem from the new mobilization law. “Zelenskyy’s approval rating fell throughout winter 2023/2024. This fall occurred in tandem with the introduction of new mobilization law,” it noted. It also notes that only 34% of Ukrainians said they support the mobilization law, while 52% disagreed with it.
Rumors of an additional mobilization law lowering the age even more are likely to make the situation worse for Zelenskyy.
Volodin said that Zelenskyy’s rating in Ukraine dropped to 17% in May. This happened, according to the parliamentarian, due to plans to lower the age of mobilization to 18 years, economic problems, and defeats of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In addition, Zelenskyy’s presidential term expired in May of this year.
The speaker of the State Duma claims that Zelenskyy and his associates have lost the trust of the United States and the EU, so they are forced to create special commissions to control the use of funds allocated to the Ukrainian president since “money is stolen and weapons are resold.â€
Volodin named Kyiv’s failures on the battlefield as another factor in getting rid of Zelenskyy. The monthly losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces amount to more than 50 thousand people, and the supply of Western weapons does not help, the parliamentarian concluded.
