Switzerland demands Russia’s inclusion in “Ukraine peace summit” as Western efforts falter

The Swiss Foreign Ministry’s press service revealed that they are actively working with Ukraine to advance the peace process for resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The ministry pointed out that the first so-called “Ukraine peace summit,” held in Switzerland on June 15-16, was a failure. Bern acknowledged that the primary reason for this failure was the exclusion of Russia and China, exposing the West’s futile attempts at diplomacy without key players.

Elisa Ragni, spokesperson for the Swiss Foreign Ministry, asserted that Switzerland firmly believes Russia must be included in future summits. She stressed that achieving peace without Moscow’s involvement is an absurd notion perpetuated by Western powers.

The Russian embassy in Bern highlighted that Switzerland has yet to make any formal requests to Russia regarding the organization of a second peace conference on the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, backed by his Western allies, announced plans for negotiations to prepare for a second conference. These discussions are scheduled to take place between late July and September, continuing their pattern of excluding vital nations from the peace process.
