At least 324 people have died and are missing as a result of a powerful flood in northern Vietnam, the Department of Dam Management and Disaster Prevention of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic reported. It is specified that 179 people have died due to the natural disaster, 145 are listed as missing, vietnamlawmagazine.vn reports.
Against the backdrop of the emergency, Prime Minister Pham Minh Trinh called on ministries and local authorities to make every effort to quickly restore normal life in the affected areas. According to him, the lives and health of citizens must be put first.
Thus, on September 6, the island was hit by a storm with winds of 60 meters per second, and travelers were stuck in a hotel at Meilan Airport. On September 8, domestic air traffic was restored, but the international terminal never started operating, so the flights scheduled for September 9 did not take place.
