Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Russia can only be “forced into peace,” Zelenskyy’s fatal mistake

"Because it is impossible to force Russia to peace," the Kremlin spokesman stressed.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy is making a fatal mistake in believing that Russia can only be “forced into peace,” said Dmitry Peskov, the Russian president’s press secretary, as reported by Russian news agency Interfax.

“A position based on an attempt to force Russia to peace is an absolutely fatal mistake. Because it is impossible to force Russia to peace,” Peskov told journalists.

“Russia is a supporter of peace, but on the condition that the foundations of its security are ensured and the tasks facing the SVO (Special Military Operation) are fulfilled. Without achieving these goals, it is impossible to force Russia,” Peskov told journalists.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, the position of the Ukrainian authorities is a “extreme misconception” that will inevitably have consequences for them.

This is how the Russian leader’s spokesman commented on the corresponding statement by the current Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a meeting of the UN Security Council. On his way to the United States, he recorded an address to his compatriots on board an American military transport plane. According to Zelenskyy, the main goal of his visit is to present his infamous “victory plan” for resolving the conflict in Ukraine, which, as he stated, consists of “strengthening Ukraine and the Ukrainian army.” The first to see it is US President Joe Biden.

After arriving in the United States, the Ukrainian President said, “We are closer to peace than we think.” He added that his plan to end the conflict does not involve resuming negotiations with Russia – it is, as he put it, “a bridge to a diplomatic way out, to stop the war.” At the same time, Volodymyr Zelenskyy began his visit to the United States with a visit to an ammunition factory and another demand to increase arms supplies.

In turn, the Associated Press news agency reported, citing Zelenskyy’s advisers and Ukrainian politicians, that the ruling political clique in Ukraine would agree to a ceasefire only if a “Russian invasion” was impossible.

It will lead to a freezing of the conflict, nothing more: Occupied territories are considered occupied. Sanctions against Russia remain. The intensity of war drops significantly but it continues
