New NATO Secretary General answers question about Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes deep into Russia

Rutte: Decision on strikes deep into Russia remains with individual allies

The North Atlantic Alliance understands Ukraine’s request to strike deep into Russia with Western weapons, but the decision to do so remains with Kyiv’s allies. This was stated by the new NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, RIA Novosti reports.

“The decision remains with individual allies,” New NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said.

On October 1, Jens Stoltenberg’s term as NATO Secretary General came to an end. He was replaced by Rutte. What will be the course of the North Atlantic Alliance under the new Secretary General, what will NATO look like in the near future, and in what case is its war with Russia possible?

Mark Rutte has been Prime Minister and Minister of General Affairs of the Netherlands since October 2010. In July 2023, he submitted his resignation to the King of the Netherlands after the government coalition failed to reach a solution to limit the influx of migrants. In June 2024, Rutte was elected the new Secretary General of NATO.
