New NATO Secretary General assesses timeframe for inviting Ukraine to Alliance

NATO Secretary General Rutte: It is difficult to predict the timing of Ukraine's invitation to the alliance

At present, it is difficult for NATO to predict the timing of the official invitation of Ukraine to the alliance. This was stated by the new Secretary General of the bloc Mark Rutte, fontanka reports.

“We need to look at all the developments in the next six months, a year, two years, also in the context of Ukraine’s membership in NATO. It is very difficult to predict now,” the Secretary-General said.

Rutte had previously stated that Ukraine should join NATO. According to the former Dutch Prime Minister, in his new post, he intends to increase aid to the Ukrainian side, thereby bringing it closer to the alliance.

Earlier, the new NATO Secretary General answered a question about the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes deep into Russia.
