Russia responds to Pompeo’s statement – “absolutely pointless” to pull away from China

Vladimir Dzhabarov criticized Pompeo's words about Russia's return to the European economy

Statements about the need to “pull” Russia away from interaction with China and return it to integration into the European economy are meaningless. This is how Vladimir Dzhabarov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, commented in an interview with Lenta.ru on the words of former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about returning the Russian Federation to the European economy.

“As for trying to pull us away from China, it is absolutely pointless. Because we have a strategic partnership,” he emphasized.

According to Dzhabarov, China and Russia are not allies “against someone”, but are developing interstate relations.
He noted that the European economy is “not very well” experiencing the break in ties with Russia.

Earlier, Pompeo said that Russia needs to be brought back economically to the West instead of Asia and Africa, convincing them of the greater benefits of such a partnership.

According to him, the Russians need to be “pulled back” to the European model, instead of the Asian one, and prevented from moving closer to Africa and the Global South.
