Political scientist says politicians are not yet ready to speak publicly about Ukraine’s defeat

Mearsheimer: western leaders acknowledge the dire situation for Ukraine

American political scientist and international relations expert Professor John Mearsheimer believes that almost all Western politicians realize that Ukraine will not be able to achieve more in the conflict with Russia, but are not yet ready to talk about it publicly. He said this in an interview with journalist Glenn Greenwald on YouTube channel.

“Almost all Western politicians understand that Ukraine is doomed. But I think that very few are ready to speak out about this publicly”

–Professor John Mearsheimer.

According to him, when these politicians talk about a peace treaty between the parties to the conflict, they always mean some kind of agreement that “will force Russia, in essence, to capitulate and give up the annexed territories, meeting Ukraine halfway.” The political scientist is confident that this will not happen.
