It was reported that Iranian-backed groups attempted to attack a base where the US military is stationed with rockets in the Deir ez-Zor province of Syria.

According to information obtained from local sources, Iranian-backed groups based in the villages of Hashsham and Murat on the west bank of the Euphrates River in Deir ez-Zor attempted to attack the base at the Koniko Gas Plant, where US forces are stationed, with rockets in the evening hours.

Air defense systems at the base destroyed the rockets before they reached their targets.

The US has not yet made a statement regarding the incident.

US Base was targetted before also

US military bases in Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor provinces are frequently targeted with rockets and kamikaze drones.

The Deir ez-Zor lands east of the Euphrates River are under the occupation of the US-backed Kurdish militia PKK/YPG, while the provincial center and other rural areas are under the control of Bashar al-Assad and Iran-backed groups.
