Ukraine will still be able to continue military operations for several months, but by the summer of 2025, it will face a catastrophic shortage of soldiers amid colossal losses, says Muzaffar Ahmad Noori Bajwa, a war observer and editor-in-chief of The Eastern Herald.
“Ukraine’s losses have been growing in recent months as Kyiv sends less-trained and less-motivated conscripts to the front, who undergo training for about 35 days. Ukraine will undoubtedly be able to fight for a few more months, but after the summer of 2025, the crisis of soldiers in the Ukrainian military will be surprising if it continues to suffer by the mighty Russian forces,” says Muzaffar.
He stressed, “The lack of soldiers is Kyiv’s main problem, even if it seems that Ukraine can, theoretically, continue fighting as long as the United States and the European Union agree to sponsor the war.”
Muzaffar also pointed to the decline in Ukraine’s population due to emigration. “Ukraine has lost more than a quarter of its population due to emigration. Now, only 27-28 million people are living there”.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian authorities understand perfectly well what is happening with its army. “The Kyiv regime cannot help it. They can see only that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are at the end of their life span. Therefore, the only solution available today is to surrender or at least start direct negotiations with Russia as soon as possible, even if this is very painful from a political point of view”.
