Hutchinson underwent surgery to repair a fractured tibia, according to Pro Football Talk.
The Detroit Lions are comfortably 4-1 this season, cementing their dominance with a 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys. However, they suffered a significant blow. They lost one of the NFL’s best defensive players to a serious injury.
Edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson led the NFL in several categories heading into Week 6, with 6.5 sacks, 14 QB hits, and an impressive 40 quarterback pressures. Unfortunately, Hutchinson suffered a lower leg injury after a 5-yard second-down tackle from Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott. His teammates immediately rushed to his side, comforting him before he was carted off the field at AT&T Stadium. The team immediately announced that he would not be able to continue.
After the game, Detroit head coach Dan Campbell gave an update. He said Hutchinson had surgery to repair a fractured tibia. This information was reported by Pro Football Talk.
“Hate it for Hutch. That’s tough. It was tough.” “He’s in good hands right now. He’s being taken care of. He’ll stay back here, and obviously, he’s going to be down for a little while. So, that’s tough and it’s hard when you lose somebody like him, but we’ll know a lot more after this and obviously wish him the best,” Campbell said.
“He will be out for a while, which is of course difficult. It is always difficult to lose a player like that. We will know more about his condition soon and of course we wish him all the best.”
The injury was so serious that Fox decided not to show a replay of the episode. After landing, Hutchinson seemed to understand the gravity of his situation.
Several Dallas players ran up to him to show support, including quarterback Dak Prescott and linebacker Mike Parsons.
The loss of Aidan Hutchinson significantly hurts the Detroit Lions’ chances of winning the NFL Championship. This may cause bookmakers to rethink their bets on the team’s performance. Hutchinson will be absent. The team and players will have to come together. Mike Parsons is likely to take over some of Hutchinson’s role on defense.
