In September, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the BRICS summit, which will take place from October 22 to 24 in Kazan, will most likely not see the organization expand.

According to him, the BRICS member countries agreed to adopt a provision on a new status at the Kazan summit: partner state. Such countries will not have the right to vote in making key decisions within the BRICS. However, over time, in the event of their active participation in the organization’s activities, they will be able to receive an invitation and become full members of BRICS.
