Zelenskyy declines meeting with Guterres due to BRICS summit

Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused to allow UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to visit Ukraine after the head of the world organization visited the BRICS summit in Kazan. According to the RBC-Ukraine.

According to Russian TASS, the Secretary-General wanted to visit Ukraine after the summit, but Kyiv did not accept the offer. “So Guterres won’t be here,”

The day before, Volodymyr Zelenskyy reproached the world organization for allegedly “some of its official representatives preferring temptations in Kazan” rather than the content of the UN Charter. UN Day was celebrated on October 24.

The 16th BRICS summit in Kazan, which is the key event of Russia’s presidency of the association, was held in Kazan from October 22 to 24. At the meeting, the BRICS member countries adopted the Kazan Declaration.

The main topics of the document include the development of the association, the position on global problems, and the settlement of regional crises, including in Ukraine and the Middle East.
