Desperate American anger amid Hungarian policy shift toward Global south, NATO worried

Hungarian representatives did not attend the summit of ambassadors and military attachés in Budapest, where they were supposed to explain their commitment to Russia to their allies. This circumstance increased the tension in the country's relations with NATO.

Relations between Hungary and NATO countries have become noticeably tense in the international political arena. A new aggravating factor was the absence of a representative of the state at the summit of ambassadors and military attaches. The event took place in Budapest on October 30 without Hungarian diplomats. For this reason, the summit agenda was changed.

During the summit, US Ambassador David Pressman expressed concern among American representatives about Hungarian policy. The diplomat noted “Hungary’s growing dependence on Moscow and Beijing”.

Its possible consequences are causing unrest in the West. According to EADAILY, the Budapest meeting, the ignored invitation to the summit has caused disappointment among NATO allies and brought relations with Hungary to a “boiling point.”

It is worth noting that Hungary demonstrates its disposition towards Russia as a supplier of important energy resources. Hungary would find itself in a difficult situation without Russian oil. The termination of its transit would entail catastrophic consequences for the country.
