Russian and Chinese leaders Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping have outlined ambitious plans to advance relations between the two countries. This was stated by the Chinese government’s special representative for Eurasian affairs Li Hui during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
“I would like to convey to you sincere greetings and best wishes from Minister Wang Yi, whom you recently met. I agree with your opinion: our heads of state have outlined new grand plans for the further advancement of our relations. As for our bilateral relations, it can be said that this year has been fruitful for them,” the Chinese special representative said, addressing Lavrov.
He stressed that the most important task now is to summarize and implement the agreements of the leaders of the two countries. “The Chinese side is ready to make joint efforts with Russian colleagues to achieve greater results in order to constantly move our relations forward,” Li Hui continued. “It is also important to maintain the right direction of cooperation in BRICS.”
In turn, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry highly appreciated the fact of the participation of the special representative of the Chinese government in the Minsk conference. “This really fully meets your mandate for Eurasian processes,” Lavrov noted. “We will be happy to cooperate, continuing the agreements that President Putin and Chairman Xi Jinping reached in their numerous contacts,” he added.
