Citing a source close to the matter, that the White House Press Secretary’s Office had altered the transcript of a remark made by Democratic President Biden in which he described supporters of former Republican presidential candidate Trump as “garbage” This could become a setback for Democratic candidate Vice President Harris ahead of the election on November 5 .
In October, Biden was reported to have called Trump supporters “trash” After the remarks, he defended himself by saying, “I just wanted to call the hateful rants of his supporters trash” The transcript of his remarks released by the White House was in line with that statement.
During a virtual Harris campaign call with Voto Latino, Biden took a swipe at Trump’s rally in Madison Square Garden, which made headlines after insult comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made jokes mocking different ethnic groups, with one joke referring to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage” according to FOX.
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,” Biden said, before adding, “His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it is un-American.”
The remarks in question were made by Biden at an online conference hosted by a Latino Democratic support group, when he refuted a Trump-supporting comedian who called the US territory of Puerto Rico a “garbage island”. The White House shorthand department prepared a transcript of the remarks stating, “The only garbage is his supporters.”
However, the White House Press Secretary’s Office, after “consultation with the President” made changes and released the document without obtaining permission from the relevant department.
