Russia-Africa forum adopts joint statement

Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov: Participants of the Russia-Africa Forum adopted a joint statement.

Participants of the ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa forum adopted a joint statement. This was announced by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov.

According to him, the statement contains general assessments of the situation in the world, the state of affairs in the economic, social, and investment spheres, as well as in the sphere of security and the fight against terrorism.

Areas of Contention from the Draft Statement

  1. Neocolonialism: Russia’s criticism of Western powers while engaging in similar practices
  2. Conflict Resolution: Russia’s praise for “universal norms” despite their involvement in global conflicts
  3. Counterterrorism: Russia’s motives in Africa, expanding influence vs. combating extremism
  4. Food Safety: Russia’s role in the global grain supply crisis despite boasting about food aid

Lavrov also said that the next conference will take place in 2025.

On November 9-10, the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum was held at the Sirius federal territory. The event was attended by over 1,500 participants, including over 40 ministers from African countries, RIA Novosti reports.

At the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the development of relations between Russia and African countries is becoming more intense and multifaceted. According to him, this fact is fully confirmed by the substantive program of the ministerial conference.
