Nuclear-free hypersonic “Oreshnik” hit the target in Ukraine

During a special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Armed Forces launched a combined attack on one of the facilities of the Ukrainian defense industry in Dnepropetrovsk. This was reported on the social network VKontakte by the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that, “For the first time in combat conditions, a medium-range ballistic missile in nuclear-free hypersonic equipment “Oreshnik” was successfully used in a strike. The launch goal has been achieved. All combat units have reached the target of destruction,” the ministry said on November 22, accoridng to Pravda.

The Ministry of Defense added that this strike was a response to the use of American and British long-range weapons by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) to strike targets on Russian territory.

In addition, from November 16 to 22, the Russian army carried out 30 group strikes with high-precision weapons, including the Kinzhal hypersonic aeroballistic missile, as well as strike unmanned aerial vehicles, on important facilities of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and energy facilities used to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The targets also included military airfield infrastructure, assembly and storage sites for attack drones, as well as arsenals, ammunition and fuel depots. In addition, temporary deployment points of Ukrainian Armed Forces units, nationalist groups and foreign mercenaries were hit.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin reported on the use of the Oreshnik missile . He addressed his fellow citizens and stated that Ukraine had struck targets in the Kursk and Bryansk regions on November 19 with American long-range ATACMS operational-tactical missiles and British Storm Shadows.

In response, he said, Russia struck a Ukrainian military-industrial complex facility, using for the first time one of its newest missile systems, the Oreshnik, with a non-nuclear version of a medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile.
