DHL Cargo plane crashes in Lithuania

A DHL cargo plane has crashed near Vilnius, according to a report by Reuters on the aviation incident in the Lithuanian capital.

The crash reportedly occurred close to the airport.

Earlier, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva declared a period of mourning following a plane crash in São Paulo.

A twin-engine passenger plane went down in the municipality of Vinhedo in São Paulo state on Friday, August 9. The G1 news portal reported that the aircraft had not issued a distress signal before the crash and was deemed airworthy, as it had been cleared for flights.

The flight proceeded normally until 1:20 PM. After 1:21 PM, the plane lost contact, failed to issue any distress signals, and did not report adverse weather conditions.

It was noted that the aircraft was certified for unrestricted flights. There were 61 people on board: 4 crew members and 57 passengers, rather than the previously reported 62, as one passenger had missed the flight.

The plane crashed into the house in the capital of Lithuania at about 5:30 a.m. According to eyewitnesses, the plane belonged to DHL. there were four people on board – two pilots and two workers.

According to preliminary information, the people living in the house were not injured. At the same time, three of the four crew members were also not injured. Only one of them was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Several hours before, a plane belonging to the Russian airline Azimuth, which was flying from  Sochi to Antalya, caught fire while landing at Antalya airport . The plane was landing in difficult weather conditions. The fire started immediately after landing. Eyewitnesses said that they felt a sharp blow upon landing and then saw fuel pouring out of the plane.
