Germany calls for resumption of trade with Russia

The Alternative for Germany party calls for the resumption of trade with Russia and the supply of Russian gas to Germany. This is stated in the final draft of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) election program.

AfD plans to discuss the document at the federal congress in January 2025. The document mentions Russia as a supplier of cheap gas to Germany, with which trade should be resumed. Ukraine, according to AfD, should have a neutral status in the future and be “outside the European Union and NATO. The conflict in Ukraine is not mentioned.

The publication noted that the party also advocates for Germany’s exit from the European Union and the abandonment of the euro.

“We consider it necessary for Germany to leave the European Union and create a new European community,” the document emphasizes.

According to the Alternative for Germany (AfD), the EU must be replaced by a community of countries that will be united by common interests, including in the economy.

In November, it was reported that a motion to ban the Alternative for Germany party, signed by 112 members, had been submitted to the Bundestag . The initiative was put forward by members of the opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU), who are seeking a quick resolution of the issue before the next elections,
