Russia and Kazakhstan plan to launch regular flights to Baikonur in the near future. The protocol of the Russian-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission on the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
The Kazakhstan delegation held a meeting with Russia’s Deputy Minister of Transport Vladimir Poteshkin during which both parties agreed to establish air service from Kazakhstan and Russia to Baikonur to support tourism to the space station, said, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport.
The parties agreed to grant the right: to designated Russian carriers to operate up to 14 regular flights per week to the city of Baikonur and back; to designated Kazakhstani carriers to operate up to 14 regular flights per week to the city of Baikonur and back, the document says.
The protocol also states that, as part of the development of tourism at Baikonur, Kazakhstan must prepare proposals to reduce the deadline for submitting an application for access to the Baikonur complex facilities, including the Gagarin Start launch complex, the cosmodrome museum, the observation post and sites previously used for the preparation and launch of Zenit rockets, where the Russian-Kazakhstani Baiterek project is now being implemented.
According to the Kremlin press statement, The volume of Russian direct investment in Kazakhstan’s economy has surpassed $24 billion, with over $4.5 billion invested in just the past two years. Cumulative investment from Kazakhstan in the Russian economy has reached an impressive $8.5 billion.
Moreover, approximately 24,000 companies with Russian participation are operating in Kazakhstan, accounting for nearly half of all foreign capital enterprises within the country.
