China imposes sanctions on 13 US military firms over arms sales to Taiwan

The Chinese authorities have imposed sanctions on 13 American military enterprises due to arms supplies to Taiwan.

The department specified that the US arms sales to Taiwan are a gross violation of the “one China” principle, as well as three Chinese-American communiqués. Diplomats regard this as serious interference in China’s internal affairs.

As a result, 13 enterprises and six executives were included in China’s sanctions list.

The Wall Street Journal writes, that Chinese experts are studying how Russia works to combat Western sanctions.

Beijing has decided to hedge its bets in case of tighter restrictions due to the conflict over Taiwan.

The Chinese specialists also consult with their colleagues from Russia. Representatives of the PRC periodically visit the country, where they meet with employees of various departments.

According to CGTN, China has decided to impose countermeasures against 13 U.S. military companies and six senior corporate executives, starting from December 5, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday.

Earlier, China categorically rejected the possibility of Taiwan declaring independence.
