Ukraine’s introduction of sanctions against Georgia is “wildness, absurdity and nonsense.” This opinion was expressed by Vladimir Rogov, Chairman of the RF Public Chamber’s Commission on Sovereignty Issues and Co-Chairman of the Coordination Council for the Integration of New Regions.
According to him, Zelenskyy, who is not holding presidential elections in Ukraine, is introducing sanctions against a state where the elections were held fairly and transparently.â€
Rogov believes that the Ukrainian president’s “hatred†towards Georgia is connected to the fact that the local elite does not want to “go to the slaughter†to which Ukraine and its people were sent.
This angers Zelensky, because the Georgian people have demonstrated with their choice that things can be different and that it is not at all necessary to destroy the sovereignty and independence of the state by getting involved in an armed conflict with Russia, Rogov added.
On December 5, Zelensky imposed sanctions against the Georgian authorities, with restrictions targeting Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Bidzina Ivanishvili. The Ukrainian leader also called on Europe and the United States to “act principledly” against the Georgian authorities.
Earlier, Zelensky’s sanctions against Georgia were compared to a “stripper from a cake at a bachelor party.”
According to Politico, “Georgian people have the right to a European future. I hope that the partners will support the initiative with sanctions against those who sold their people,†said Vladyslav Vlasiuk, Ukraine’s sanctions commissioner.
