Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

UK expands sanctions on Russian vessels and UAE energy firms amid ongoing tensions

The British authorities have expanded sanctions against Russian vessels involved in the transportation of oil and other energy resources. The updated sanctions list includes 20 ships and two companies.

The list included the following vessels: Pontus, Garasan, Facca, Sagitta, Junia, Mianzimu, Bull, Marathon, Fast Kathy, Moti, Asher, Lang Ya, Laconia, Nurkez, Sagar Violet, Mu Dan, Ocean Faye, Swiftsea Rider, Minerva M and Andaman Skies.

According to Reuters, “As (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s oil revenues continue to fuel the fires of his illegal war, Ukrainian families are enduring cold, dark nights, often without heating, light or electricity, targeted by Russia’s relentless missile attacks,” British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said.

In addition, sanctions were imposed on UAE companies 2Rivers PTE and 2Rivers DMCC, which specialize in energy trading.

On December 16, the European Union approved a new package of anti-Russian sanctions. The list included 54 individuals and 30 organizations. The list included Russian military personnel, artists, and businessmen, as well as high-ranking military personnel from North Korea and several foreign companies.

Earlier, the EU suspended the visa-free regime for Georgian diplomats.
