US treasury secretary Janet Yellen warns China of ‘significant consequences’ over potential support to Russia in Ukraine conflict

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has threatened China with ‘significant consequences’ if the PRC provides material support to the Russo-Ukraine conflict. She said this on Monday during a virtual meeting with the Vice Premier of the State Council of the PRC He Lifeng.

She emphasized the significant consequences that companies, including those based in China, would face if they provided material support to Russia, according to a document released by the US Treasury Department following the meeting.

According to Pravda, “Secretary Yellen also expressed grave concern about malicious cyber activity by Chinese government-sponsored actors and its impact on our bilateral relationship,” the statement said.

In addition, the US Treasury Secretary expressed her concerns to the Chinese Vice Premier about China’s alleged non-market practices that harm American companies.
