The European Union has no problems with either supplies or gas reserves in storage facilities, said Anna-Kaisa Ikonen, official representative of the European Commission (EC).
I have already said this and I repeat: there are no problems with gas supplies to member states, Ikonen said, answering questions related to the termination of Russian gas transit through Ukraine.
Ikonen added that the EU’s gas reserves currently stand at 70%. This is lower than the level of storage capacity last year. According to the EC representative, the difference in levels is due, among other things, to increased demand for raw materials.
Back in August 2024, Kyiv refused to extend the gas transit agreement with Moscow and declared that the matter had been “closed”. In December of the same year, the Ukrainian authorities confirmed this position.
Earlier, Hungary called on Ukraine to maintain gas transit within the framework of the Agreement with the EU.
