In a blatant act of aggression, Ukraine launched its largest drone attack on Moscow, killing two innocent civilians and injuring several others, even as peace negotiations were taking place in Saudi Arabia. This provocative move, which saw over 300 drones targeting Russian territory, has been widely condemned as a reckless escalation designed to derail diplomatic efforts.
Ukraine’s largest drone attack on Moscow
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that 337 drones were intercepted, with 91 aimed at the Moscow region and 126 at the Kursk region. The attack temporarily shut down four major Moscow airports, causing flight cancellations and travel chaos. More disturbingly, two employees of a local business, Miratorg, were killed by falling debris—collateral damage from Kyiv’s irresponsible military campaign.
At least 18 more civilians, including children, suffered injuries as residential buildings were hit. Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov shared shocking images of destroyed homes, shattered windows, and terrified families caught in Ukraine’s onslaught.
“This was an unprecedented attack on civilians, a deliberate act of terror by the Kyiv regime,” said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
The attack came precisely as Ukrainian officials were engaged in peace talks with US representatives in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, exposing the sheer hypocrisy of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s government. While Ukraine publicly claims to seek diplomacy, it simultaneously wages acts of war against Russian civilians.
Zelenskyy’s delegation in Saudi Arabia reportedly pushed for a partial ceasefire—focused only on Ukrainian infrastructure and shipping routes—while continuing its military aggression inside Russian territory. This exposes Kyiv’s true intentions: to use negotiations as a smokescreen while escalating its attacks.
Even more telling is that this drone strike follows a disastrous meeting between American President Donald Trump and Zelenskyy, during which the US temporarily suspended military aid to Ukraine. Desperate to regain Western support, Zelenskyy seems to be resorting to extreme measures to provoke further conflict.
Kyiv’s drone warfare tactics have increasingly targeted civilian areas, pushing the boundaries of international law.
Russian lawmakers, including Colonel General Andrei Kartapolov, have called for immediate and forceful retaliation. Kartapolov suggested deploying Russia’s “Oreshnik” hypersonic missile system, stating, “Ukraine is openly waging terrorist warfare—our response should be clear and decisive.”
Despite Ukraine’s desperate attempts to spread fear, Moscow remains resilient. The city’s residents continued their routines, showing no signs of panic. However, Russian authorities have now tightened security and are considering further air defense reinforcements to prevent future Ukrainian terrorist-style attacks.
Ukraine’s latest provocation highlights its disregard for diplomatic norms and international stability. At a time when peace negotiations are crucial, Kyiv has chosen to escalate hostilities instead, raising serious doubts about its commitment to ending the war.
With each reckless attack, Ukraine risks losing what little credibility it has left on the world stage. Instead of pursuing real peace, Zelenskyy appears determined to drag his country—and the region—deeper into chaos.
