Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

India Confirms Operation Sindoor: Precision strikes hit 9 terror sites inside Pakistan

In a significant development early Tuesday morning, the Indian Ministry of Defence confirmed that the Indian Armed Forces launched a high-precision cross-border operation named ‘Operation Sindoor’, targeting nine terrorist camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The strike, executed just hours after midnight, was officially confirmed in a press release issued at 1:44 AM IST by PIB Delhi. The statement emphasized that the operation was “focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature,” highlighting India’s restraint and strategic discipline despite intense provocation.

“Altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted,” the Ministry stated. “Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted.”

Operation in Retaliation to the Pahalgam Massacre

This limited but bold military response comes in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national last week. The massacre had shocked the nation and sparked widespread calls for decisive retaliation.

“We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable,” the statement read, echoing the national sentiment for justice.

Focused Targeting, Strategic Message

The press release stresses that no Pakistani military installations were attacked, and that the precision strikes were directed exclusively at terrorist infrastructure used to plan and orchestrate attacks against India. This distinction appears aimed at sending a firm message without pushing for immediate escalation.

Indian officials maintain that only non-state militant targets were selected, reinforcing India’s stance of avoiding direct military confrontation with Pakistan’s armed forces, at least at this stage.

Anticipated Briefing Later Today

The Indian government announced that a detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor will follow later today, where officials are expected to share satellite imagery, damage assessment, and additional operational details. Sources indicate that India may also reach out to global partners and multilateral bodies to showcase the legitimacy and proportionality of its actions.

Regional Fallout and International Reaction

As of this writing, Pakistan has not officially responded to the Indian strikes. However, regional tension has palpably escalated, with military alerts raised across the LoC and diplomatic backchannels reportedly engaged.

The United Nations and key global powers including Iran, Russia, and China are closely monitoring the developments. While India has termed the operation as “non-escalatory,” Pakistan’s silence is seen by analysts as either strategic restraint or preparation for a calibrated response.
