Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The attacks on Odessa are not an obstacle to the export of grain, said Peskov

The Kremlin announced today that the Russian attacks on Odessa are not an obstacle to the export of Ukrainian grain and the implementation of the agreement signed under the auspices of the UN.

–  The target of the attack is exclusively military infrastructure, which is in no way connected with the infrastructure necessary for the implementation of the grain export agreement – said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Agreement Signed

–  Therefore, it cannot and must not interfere with the loading of cargo – added Peskov.

The Russian military bombarded Odessa, key to Ukraine’s grain trade, on Saturday, and Russia’s defense ministry said the widely condemned missile attacks on the Black Sea port were aimed at destroying weapons supplied to Ukraine from the United States.

The bombing came a day after Russia and Ukraine signed an agreement under the auspices of the UN in Istanbul on Friday, which provides for the establishment of “safe corridors” for the navigation of merchant ships in the Black Sea, and Moscow and Kyiv pledged not to attack them.

Facilitate exports

The agreement will enable the export of 20 to 25 million tons of grain blocked in Ukraine and facilitate the export of Russian agricultural products, which will reduce the risk of a global food crisis, especially in Africa.
