On Thursday morning, Russia launched a new series of missile strikes on Ukraine which killed at least one person.
A few hours earlier, a drone attack had taken place.
Meanwhile, heavy fighting continues in the east of the country, where Russian forces are putting increasing pressure on Ukrainian defenders.
The new missile strikes come after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Kiev’s Western allies to provide long-range missiles and fighter jets to bolster Ukraine ‘s air defences.
Hours before Zelenskyyy’s speech, Germany and the united states promised to supply Kiev with modern battle tanks.
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said as a result of the strike on the capital, one person was killed and two others injured, and urged Kiev residents to stay in shelters.
“Following a missile attack on a non-residential building in the Goloseevsky district, we have information about one dead and two wounded. The injured were hospitalized,” he said.
Kiev military administration chief Sergei Popko said air defense systems destroyed more than a dozen missiles over the capital.
