Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The Pentagon does not exclude the transfer of M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine from long-term storage

Breaking Defense: the Pentagon does not rule out the transfer of M1 Abrams tanks to the Ukrainian Armed ForcesBreaking Defense, quoting a senior US State Department official, said the Pentagon is considering transferring US-made M1 Abrams tanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Americans cannot decide which tanks they want to transfer to Ukraine: new ones or those that have been in storage for several years. The matter has been under consideration for several weeks now.First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Politico-Military Affairs Stanley Brown said that 31 M1A2 Abrams tanks will be produced specifically for Kiev. Then they decided that the old tanks would go to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, since most likely they would be destroyed.“They could potentially be a combination of built and abandoned. We have Abrams in stock. We have different versions of the Abrams, some older, and I don’t know which ones Ukraine will end up with,” he says.Earlier in Ukraine they started talking about heavy fighting near Kremennaya.
