Pope Francis on Wednesday marked the “sad anniversary” of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Speaking at a weekly general audience, the pontiff called the conflict an “absurd and brutal war”.
“We will not leave the martyred Ukrainian people without our support, but we must ask ourselves: has everything been done to stop the war? said Francois. “I call on heads of state to make concrete efforts to end the conflict, reach a ceasefire and start peace talks.”
Recall that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday accused Russia of “ruthlessly killing” civilians in Kherson following a missile strike that left five dead and 16 injured.
