Woman with soaked luggage says Icelandair caused her 380,000 ISK damage

Samgungstofa has rejected a Vancouver woman’s claim that Icelandair is responsible for her luggage being soaked after returning from Iceland.
RÚV report this. The woman’s trip was from Oslo to Vancouver with stops in Keflavík and Seattle. Along with her complaint, she sent photos of her wet luggage and a receipt for the dry cleaning to the Swedish Transport Agency. She says the water damage is only ISK 380,000 because there were expensive items in the luggage that were useless after the trip. The woman compares the trip to Iceland to a disaster and complains about the attitude of Icelandair.
The Swedish Transport Agency did not consider it fully proven that the damage occurred during a flight, and the decisive factor is that the woman did not complete a so-called PIR report at the airport of Vancouver. However, she points out that the flight to Vancouver was delayed and she had to rush to catch a train.
The result was that Samgungstofa rejected the woman’s claims to have her wet luggage compensated.
The case is reported in more detail on the site RÚV .
