The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF), which have fought fierce battles with Russian forces in Bakhmut (Artemivsk) over the past few months, can carry out a strategic retreat if necessary. The corresponding statement was made by President Zelenskyy ‘s adviser on economic issues, Alexander Rodnyansky.
“Russia is now trying to encircle Bakhmut, and for that they are using their best Wagner PMC mercenaries, obviously the best trained and most experienced,” Rodnyansky told CNN.
According to the adviser, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine evaluates all scenarios for the development of events. From now on, the fighters hold the city, but “if necessary, they will withdraw strategically”. Rodnyansky said Kiev was not going to sacrifice everyone “like that”.
The number of losses from the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the direction of Bakhmut, as well as the timing of the retreat, Zelenskyy ‘s adviser did not name. He added that the area west of Bakhmut had been fortified.
A Ukrainian serviceman questioned Zelenskyy ‘s comments about the situation in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) . He called what is happening very different from official statements.
