His Excellency Dr. Saleh bin Muhammad Al-Nabit, Chairman of the Planning and Statistics Authority, met with HE Mr. Abu Bakr Siddik Guy, Director General of the National Agency for Statistics and Demography in the Republic of Senegal, and his accompanying delegation, who is currently visiting the country. This meeting comes as part of a three-day visit by a delegation from the Republic of Senegal to the Planning and Statistics Authority to review aspects of the agency’s work in the fields of statistics and field surveys. The meeting discussed a number of issues of common interest. During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the experience of the State of Qatar in implementing the General Population, Housing and Establishments Census 2020 project, which is based on administrative records, which is an approach that developed countries seek to implement to move from traditional censuses based on field surveys to a census based on administrative records. In the same context, the agency reviewed the latest methods and techniques used in the implementation of the last census, and the electronic transformation in the implementation of some household surveys instead of field surveys. During the visit, the delegation also gets acquainted with the geographic information systems (GIS) and their great role at the present time in implementing field surveys, in addition to learning about the great development in economic statistics in the field of national accounts, foreign trade and other economic statistics.
