Budapest denies report vetoing EU statement on ICC arrest warrant for Putin

In Hungary, they said that the report published by Bloomberg on Budapest’s veto on the publication of a joint statement by EU countries on the issuance of a warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for “the arrest” of Russian President Vladimir Putin is not true. Such information was announced Monday evening by the press officer of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mate Patsolai.

“The truth is that Hungary has declared the following position to the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell: Hungary takes note of the decision of the ICC and does not wish to comment on it in any way “, quoted the news agency MTI. as told.

Patsolai added that Budapest would also not object if Borrell or any of the EU countries decided to issue a statement on the subject.

Earlier, Bloomberg published an article stating that the Hungarian side blocked the publication of the mentioned EU statement. The text also noted that in connection with this position of Budapest, Borrell had been forced to publish the document in his own name.
