In Paris, tear gas was used against demonstrators

It is reported that in the evening riots began in the streets of Paris, firecrackers and bottles flew at the police. In response, the police fired tear gas.

On Tuesday, the lower house of the French parliament did not propose a vote of no confidence in the current government. This could be done in the context of the Prime Minister’s use of Article 49.3 of the French Constitution, which allows laws to be passed without discussion with the people’s deputies – this is how the reform of raising the retirement age.

Even at the discussion stage, mass protests took place across the country, which only intensified with the passing of the bill. Unions called for continued action, which included representatives from a wide variety of associations, from oil refinery workers to public transport drivers and garbage collectors.
