Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on conscription, according to which 147,000 people will be called up to the Russian armed forces.
A document published on the official portal of Russian legal information stated that “From April 1 to July 15 of this year, compulsory conscription for military service will be called for citizens of Russia, aged 18 to 27, who are not in the reserve, and 147,000 people will be called up for conscription.”who meet the requirements of the law “Conscription and military service”.
The presidential document indicates that the government, regional authorities and conscription committees have been instructed to ensure the implementation of activities related to conscription. And the Russian President announced, earlier, that among the 300,000 people who have been mobilized, 150,000 are in the special military operation area, including 77,000 in combat units, and the rest in regional armies.
Putin added:” Talking about any additional mobilization is meaningless, and there is no need for that at the present time neither for the country nor the Ministry of Defense”. It is reported that on October 28, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu informed President Putin of the completion of partial mobilization in Russia, which began on September 21, when 300,000 people were summoned.
This step comes at a time when the Russian military operation in Ukraine has entered its second year without any signs of stopping it in light of the wide divergence in the positions of the two parties to the conflict, and the entry of other international parties into the crisis line, whether to support Ukraine or to strengthen the Russian position.
