The Avenger short-range anti-aircraft missile system took up combat duty in Ukraine. This post was posted on social media by the Combined Forces Command of the country’s Armed Forces.
“The Avenger anti-aircraft missile systems are already in combat service in the northern area of operations,” read.
As noted in the Ukrainian department, such complexes provide short-range air defense. They are able to protect the territory from cruise missiles, airplanes and helicopters, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles. Currently, according to the latest estimates, Western countries have managed to transfer about 12 such complexes to Kiev.
Earlier, the US President’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, said the US would announce a new military aid program for Ukraine. Last fall, Washington decided to transfer the Hawk air defense systems to Kiev, as well as four American Avenger systems equipped with Stinger missiles.
