Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The head of VTB offered to conduct a new privatization in the Russian Federation

Andrey Kostin, director of VTB Bank, proposed to organize a new wave of privatizations in Russia. This is supposed to be necessary for the construction of transport and logistics corridors in the southern and eastern directions, the restarting of industrial production, the strengthening of our country’s defense capacity through the development of the military-industrial complex.

The columnist of “Moskovsky Komsomolets” Dmitry Popov saw the reasons for Kostin’s initiative to start a new privatization procedure in Russia. The material indicates that the industries, about which the head of VTB speaks, were destroyed by the privatizers.

— Did the privatizers almost destroy the whole city, the center of Soviet electronics, Zelenograd (and I lived there and saw everything with my own eyes). Who, instead of replacing imports, wrote reports, simply sticking nameplates on imported products? And above all, why? Isn’t it because it is more profitable for oneself and the country will be trampled?, – writes the journalist.

At the same time, the similarities between Kostin’s rhetoric and the initiator of privatization in the 1990s, Anatoly Chubais, are clearly visible. The latter noted that there was not enough time and that even that did not count months, but days. Kostin expressed himself thus: “today, it is time to act”.

  • Same reasoning. Yes, the motivations are the same. Then the privatizers won… – Popov summarizes.
