Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

German foreign minister to visit China to correct Macron’s mistakes – Reuters

The three-day visit will begin on April 13, days after the French president’s remarks showed chaos in the Western approach to a rising China.

Burbock said the main item on his agenda would be to remind China of its obligation to influence Russia on the Ukraine issue.

The head of the German Foreign Ministry also stressed that a unilateral change to the status quo in the Taiwan Strait is unacceptable. Burbock sees China as a systemic partner, competitor and rival, Reuters reports.

German parliamentarians expect Burbock to be clearer than Macron in defining Germany’s position on Ukraine and Taiwan.
They hope the German foreign minister will correct the French leader’s mistakes and bring clarity to Europe’s common policy towards China.

During the two-day trip, Burbock is to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang and head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Wang Yi.
