“The demonstrators are currently on rue Rivoli, where several bicycles have been set on fire,” writes Le Parisien. A crowd of demonstrators was heading towards the Constitutional Council building, but was stopped by the police. According to the BFMTV channel, the police took place near the town hall of the capital.
At the same time, as RT reports in its Telegram channel, the Parisian police are trying to disperse those dissatisfied with the pension reform with truncheons and tear gas.
French media also note that a wave of popular discontent over the Constitutional Council’s decision has swept across the country, with the most high-profile actions taking place in Marseille, Toulouse, Rennes, Nantes, Lyon, Montpellier and Lille. According to France Bleu Isère radio, a demonstration also took place in Grenoble, where the police used tear gas against the demonstrators.
Earlier, the French Constitutional Council approved the pension reform, including its key article, which is to raise the retirement age in France from 62 to 64 by 2030.
