Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Zelenskyy expects Ukraine to be ‘invited’ to NATO at July summit in Vilnius

Kiev is inclined to believe that Ukraine should receive a “deserved political invitation” to NATO membership at the Vilnius summit, scheduled for July 11-12. This statement was made by Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his evening address to the nation, posted on his Telegram channel.

“Neither the majority of Ukrainians, nor the majority of Europeans, nor the majority of the inhabitants of the entire NATO space will understand the leaders of the bloc, unless Ukraine’s well-deserved political invitation to alliance is heard at this summit in Vilnius,” he said.

The Ukrainian president also stressed that Kiev “did everything to ensure that the country received an invitation”.

Earlier on Thursday, Zelenskyy had already discussed his predictions for when Ukraine will join the North Atlantic bloc. According to him, the visit of the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, in the Ukrainian capital testifies to the proximity of this event.
