Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has called false allegations of Russian interference in Germany’s internal affairs undermining Western unity in the Ukraine conflict, reports The Washington Post.
“That’s 100% wrong. We’ve never interfered before, and now we really don’t have time for that,” he said.
The publication clarified that Russia allegedly ordered political strategists to focus on Germany in order to bolster anti-war sentiment in Europe, as well as weaken support for Ukraine.
It appears from the “documents” that the Russian side tried to interfere in German politics to create a new coalition, which will include Bundestag member Sarah Wagenknecht, the far left and the Alternative for Germany party. His goal was to obtain “a majority in elections at all levels” in Germany.
It is also stated that Russia would have wanted to support the protests against the German government.
