Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

EID-2023: Eid celebrated with traditional fervor in Kashmir.

Srinagar. The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with traditional fervor and gaiety in Kashmir on Saturday with a large number of people thronging the Hazratbal mosque on the banks of Dal Lake.

However, the authorities did not allow Eid prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in the old city. A day before, he had given permission for Friday prayers. The 14th-century mosque located in Nowhatta area of the city was expected to allow Eid prayers after the authorities allowed Shab-e-Qadr and Jumatul Vida prayers.

However, the authorities directed the Jamia Masjid management to offer Eid prayers at 7.30 am instead of 9 am. The Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid said the prayers could not be held at 7.30 am as people had to come from far flung areas as per the timing announced earlier. Eid was celebrated peacefully in the city with prayers being offered at mosques, Eidgahs and other places. The maximum number of people gathered in Hazratbal Masjid. Many well-known people, including former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, offered prayers at the mosque.
