Ajay Banga all set to lead World Bank: US

Washington. Indian-American business magnate Ajay Banga is an exceptional candidate and he is well-prepared to lead the World Bank at a very critical time.

The US gave this opinion about Banga saying that the World Bank is planning to formally announce his appointment as its President. US President Joe Biden said in February that his country would nominate Banga to lead the World Bank. The World Bank closed nominations for its next president on March 31. The global financial institution said that Banga is the only applicant for the position.

“He (Banga) is well prepared to lead the World Bank at such a critical time and he is an exceptional candidate,” Vedant Patel, the US State Department’s principal deputy spokesman, told reporters on Friday.

“His leadership skills, management experience and experience in the financial sector will help achieve the World Bank’s objectives of ending extreme poverty and creating prosperity,” Patel said. Presently serving as Vice Chairman of General Atlantic. The new head of the World Bank is expected to be chosen by early May.
