Cuban Parliament Speaker Esteban Laso accuses US of fomenting conflict in Ukraine

Esteban Laso, president of Cuba’s National Assembly of People’s Power, accused the United States of fomenting the conflict in Ukraine. Cuban speaker from his position during talks with State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin in Havana.

“We know very well how the US government, the real culprit of this problem, acts,” Laso quoted TASS as saying.

The Cuban parliamentarian pointed out that Havana opposes anti-Russian sanctions and the isolation of Russia and considers the blockade of “a powerful media company aimed at inciting hatred against the Russian Federation” in order to accuse him of aggravating the conflict.

“On behalf of the Cuban parliament, we once again express the strongest condemnation of the unilateral sanctions imposed against Russia,” concluded the head of the Cuban parliament.

During the talks, the parties also touched on the topic of NATO enlargement and the alliance’s approach to Russian borders.

Previously, the Cuban ambassador had described Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s visit to Havana as symbolic. Following his visit to Cuba, Sergei Lavrov noted that the United States had declared a crusade against Russia, its interests, culture and traditions.
